Line drawing for my new painting. Airbrushed acrylic on raw canvas.
When I was a kid, there were two things I loved about coloring books: the blank page on the other side of the front cover, and the blank page on the other side of the back cover. Nothing is more alluring to me than a blank expanse of white. When I’m working at the bakery, a full shelf of 20 perfectly smooth round white cakes begging for color and texture is the highlight of my day.
I love to fill in spaces. One of my favorite and most simple processes is to create a shape or flat line drawing, divide it up by create smaller shapes within it, then make those shapes sing and dance.
